Kindl Kindl GED Prep

Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 10, 2026

1. About this Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Kindl ("we," "us," "our") collects, uses, and protects information in connection with the Kindl GED Prep mobile application and its associated account-management website pages. It applies to anyone who creates a Kindl GED Prep account, whether through the Android app or through our website.

2. Information We Collect and Process

Account and authentication information

When you create a Kindl GED Prep account, we collect and store your email address and a display name. If you register with an email and password, your password is sent directly to Firebase Authentication (our authentication provider) to create and verify your account — we never see, store, or have access to your plaintext password ourselves. We also record when your account was created and when you last signed in.

Google Sign-In information

If you choose to sign in with Google, we receive your basic Google account identity — your email address and, where available, your name — solely to authenticate you and create your Kindl GED Prep account. We do not request or receive access to your Gmail, Google Drive, Contacts, Calendar, Photos, or any other Google service or data beyond basic sign-in identity.

Learning activity and quiz progress

To provide the core features of the app, we store your quiz activity: which quizzes you've taken, your answers, whether each answer was correct, your scores, pass/fail status, time spent, and completion timestamps. This includes any free-text you submit for Short Answer or Extended Response questions. We use this information to save your progress, calculate and display your scores and history, show your performance by subject, and determine your recommended next steps in each guided study path. This is not optional telemetry — it is the data the app's core learning features are built on.

Information stored on the device / session information

Firebase Authentication, our authentication provider, keeps you signed in between app sessions by maintaining a local session on your device. We do not add any separate local database, analytics cache, or tracking storage of our own — the only local persistence involved is what Firebase Authentication's software performs as part of keeping your login active.

Technical information processed by service providers

Firebase Authentication, provided by Google, may process technical information — such as your IP address and device/browser information — as part of authenticating you, keeping your account secure, and preventing abuse or fraudulent sign-ins. This processing happens on Google's infrastructure as part of operating the authentication service; it is not information we separately collect, store, or have access to in our own systems.

3. Information We Do Not Access

Kindl GED Prep does not request or access your camera, microphone, precise or approximate location, contacts, phone or SMS data, photos or media, calendar, or any biometric or health information. The app does not use advertising SDKs, behavioral-advertising tracking, or third-party analytics/crash-reporting services.

4. How We Use Information

We use the information described above to:

We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell your personal information to anyone.

5. Service Providers and Data Sharing

We use Google Firebase — specifically Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore — as the technical infrastructure that powers account sign-in and stores your learning data. These providers process information on our behalf to operate the app; we do not otherwise share your personal information with third parties, and we do not sell it or share it for third-party advertising purposes.

6. Google/Firebase Services

Kindl GED Prep is built on Google Firebase. Firebase Authentication handles sign-in (email/password and Google Sign-In), and Cloud Firestore stores your account profile and quiz activity described above. You can read more about how Google's Firebase services handle data in Google's own privacy documentation at firebase.google.com/support/privacy.

7. Data Storage, Security and International Processing

Your information is stored using Cloud Firestore and secured with Firestore Security Rules, which restrict access so that only you, authenticated as the account owner, can read or modify your own account data — no other user can access it. All communication between the app and our backend is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS).

Because we rely on Google's Firebase infrastructure, your information may be processed on servers and in locations operated by Google or its service providers, which may be outside the country you're using the app from. No method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure, and while we rely on the security practices built into Firebase Authentication and Cloud Firestore, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Data Retention

We retain your account and learning data for as long as your account remains active, so that your progress, scores, and history remain available to you. If you delete your account (see Section 9), your account data is removed immediately as part of that process — we do not hold onto it for a separate retention period afterward.

9. Account and Data Deletion

You can permanently delete your Kindl GED Prep account and its associated data at any time, in either of two ways:

In the app: go to Profile → Delete Account, confirm the action, and your account will be deleted.

On the web: visit app.kindl.pk/kindl-ged-prep/delete-account, sign in to verify you own the account, and confirm deletion. This works even if you no longer have the app installed.

Deleting your account permanently removes your Kindl GED Prep sign-in, your profile information (email and display name), and your full quiz attempt history, including scores, progress, and any Short Answer or Extended Response text you submitted. This is immediate and cannot be undone. Global GED quiz and question content is not part of your account and is unaffected by deletion.

For your security, you may be asked to sign in again before the deletion completes, if it's been a while since you last signed in.

10. Your Choices and Privacy Rights

You can review and update your display name from within the app's Profile screen. You can sign out at any time, and you can permanently delete your account and its data using either method described in Section 9. If you have questions about your information or want to make a privacy-related request, you can contact us using the details in Section 13.

Depending on where you live, applicable law may give you additional rights regarding your personal information. If you believe such rights apply to you, please contact us and we will address your request.

11. Children's Privacy

Kindl GED Prep is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us using the details below and we will take appropriate action.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time as the app evolves. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
